Aspens Charities: A century of history under one new roof
Whilst Aspens is a new charity by name, it combines the strengths and expertise of two charities with over 100 years of experience. Autism Sussex and Pepenbury have joined forces to provide support to children, young people and adults with a range of disabilities, complex needs and those on the autism spectrum. The merge was announced last year and their relaunch as Aspens Charities was completed in May 2018.
“I am proud to be part of such a prestigious charity derived from a legacy of two well-known organisations. In the very difficult climate in which we operate, our ethos and mission is to provide the highest quality service to the people we support empowering them to gain greater independence and to support them to achieve their full potential” Chris Board, CEO of Aspens Charities.
The team of specialists offer lifelong support helping children transition into adulthood, and adults to fulfil their ambitions. Approximately 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability, and more than 700,000 have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. Aspens mission is to help those they serve to be part of their local community and become contributing members of society however possible.
