Role: Donations Supervisor
Location: Aspens Charities, Cornford Lane, Pembury, TN2 4QU
Hourly Rate: £11.55 per hour
Contracted Hours: 28 hours per week (Mon - Thurs, 7 hour days), occasional weekend days required

If you love boot fairs, have an eye for a bargain and a passion for retail we are looking for our first dedicated Donations Supervisor! As part of the Retail Team and working directly with our eCommerce Manager you will help Aspens grow donations to our charity shops and ensure we can quickly and efficiently sort our donations, identify donations that will earn Aspens much needed extra funds and ensure they are quickly sorted and available for shoppers to buy!

Scope:
As a Donation Supervisor at Aspens Charities, you play a crucial role in our mission to support those in need within our community. Your primary responsibility is to efficiently and effectively sort through donated items at our Cornford Lane, Pembury site, ensuring that they are categorised and prepared for distribution or resale. By meticulously organising and processing donations, you directly contribute to the success of our programs and initiatives, ultimately making a positive impact on the lives of the people we support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Sorting Donations: Sort through incoming donations, including clothing, household items, toys, and other goods, in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Prioritise items based on quality, condition, and suitability for distribution or resale.

· Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of donated items to assess their condition, cleanliness, and functionality. Identify any damaged or unsuitable items, and appropriately dispose of or set them aside for repair or recycling.

· Categorisation and Organisation: Organise sorted items into designated categories, such as clothing sizes, household goods, electronics, and seasonal items. Maintain a tidy and efficient workspace to facilitate smooth operations and streamline the sorting process.

· Inventory Management: Keep accurate records of donated items received and processed, including quantities and descriptions. Assist with inventory counts and audits as needed to track stock levels and monitor donation trends.

· Assisting Customers and Volunteers: Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers and volunteers who visit the donation hub. Answer questions, explain Gift Aid, offer guidance on donation procedures, and ensure a positive and welcoming environment for all visitors.

· Cross Team working: Work closely with the eCommerce Manager, the wider Retail Team and others within Aspens to raise awareness and donations to the charity via the Cornford Lane donation hub

General Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to safeguarding rules and regulations, respecting the Charity’s duty to protect its service users and staff in equal measure.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe working environment and working practices at all times, reporting any health and safety issues or risks to the Charity’s health & safety point of contact.

Essential Experience and Knowledge:

· Previous experience of working in Charity retail (including stock and donations/Gift Aid)

· Experience of managing own workload

Desirable Experience and Knowledge:

· Knowledge of antiques/collectables

· Ability to seek out a bargain – boot fair, jumble sale etc

· Experience in Branded Retail outlet
